Midwinter Youth Tourney Logo

What is Midwinter Youth Tourney?
Midwinter Youth Tourney is a full day of youth-oriented activities.

You mean boffer fighting, right?

Well, yes and no. Despite the Tourney in the name, the event includes both fighting and Arts & Sciences activities, all aimed at kids. Hm. Maybe 'aimed at' is a poor choice of words. Well, you get the idea. All of the activities are hands-on. All of the events will be run, and classes taught, by youth. They'll have an adult assistant as well.

The feast will feature youth-friendly foods, and there will be an 'Adult Entertainment Space' so the kids can drop off their adults and know that they'll be kept out of trouble.

Oh yes, half of the profits from this event will be donated to the Principality specifically to purchase and maintain youth loaner gear!

Registration & Rules

If you bring a minor that is not your own, you must have a signed waiver by their parent or legal guardian, in order to attend! You may also plan ahead and have minor waivers filled out for your own minors. Minor waivers can be obtained from http://www.sca.org/docs/chldwaiv.pdf

As part of registration, everyone will be given a registration card. All young people 6 – 17 will sign up for an hour of service as well as classes.

All stuff will be stowed in the cloakrooms or in the hallways. There is not room for an encampment. Fighters may bring their gear into the fighting area. The fighting gear will be kept in a neat contained space and then cleaned up at the end of the activity. Parents please ensure that every piece of fighting gear is labeled with the owner's name. All students will also help clean up before leaving the classes. Three autocrats will be around to help you remember these rules.
